FRESH. That’s my style. Fresh perspectives, and a fresh approach to every wedding or portrait session. Fresh, inspiring photography.
FABULOUS. That’s my goal for your photos! Weddings are fabulous… fabulous details, fabulous couples, fabulous love! Families are fabulous… fabulous moments and relationships! Grads are fabulous too… fabulous energy, and life, and youth! When you add my passion for capturing YOU, it makes for fabulous photographs!
YOU. That’s what this is all about, after all. You. What makes you laugh? What do you love? What is your favorite past time? WHO are you, exactly? I’d love to get to know you a bit, and when I do, I will capture YOU, your inner beauty, that light in your eyes, and your character and personality that are uniquely you.

My name is Lisa Novakowski, and I am Aspect Arts Photography. I am a wedding and portrait photographer based in Kamloops, British Columbia, although I am willing to travel anywhere my passport will take me to capture your special day.
I am a “life” photographer in that I want my photos to be more than pretty posed photos of you and your loved ones. I’m not satisfied until I’ve captured who you really are, your personality, and your relationship to others in the photo. You know the saying “Eyes are the window to the soul”? Eyes say so much, and I try to capture a piece of my subject’s soul within the photograph, in the eyes, a moment remembered forever. That’s my final objective… to get past the images that are stiff and uncomfortable in front of a lens to catch a glimpse of the real and beautiful person within.
I am a “light” photographer in that I am fascinated with how light interacts with whatever it touches. Bright sunshine, dramatic theatre lights, overcast days, deep shadow, street lights at night, studio lighting, sunshine behind my subject (or backlighting) – each of these will dramatically alter the mood of a shoot. I enjoy discovering how I can make the light work for me in a given situation.
I prefer to keep a low profile during your special event, leaving YOU to be the center of attention. This approach means I capture a more “photojournalistic” side to what’s going on, steering away from posed “say cheese” photos, and looking instead to capture the natural interactions of people. Many brides choose to include family portraits during the day, so I make sure we cover these as well. I will meet with you prior to your event so we can discuss all the details that make your day YOUR DAY.
When it comes to family & portrait photography I definitely favour outdoor photo sessions. Making natural beauty part of my backdrop is integral to my style. I have been delving into studio photography these days as well, and I am finding it to be fun and challenging.
I only have a couple spaces left for 2011 weddings, so reserve your special day soon. I am also accepting booking for 2012.
Thank you for taking the time to visit.
Feedback on what you have seen here is always welcome!
