I’m pretty excited to begin a new project, I’m calling it, officially, “Aspect Arts 365″, or “Project 365″. I found myself sidetracked from my housework yesterday, unable to pass up the opportunity to take photos of how the late afternoon sunshine was sparkling in a garland on my piano. Later, back at my housework, I...

Kristine - Stunning! What else can I say. The calla lillies took my breath away.

Last summer I had the opportunity to help friend and fellow photographer Rose Dykstra of Simply Rose, by shooting the men in the wedding party while she took care of the ladies. These guys were great, I like to think of them as “Monty’s Men”. They were fun group, and had me in stitches. One...

I love history. Not the kind we learned in school that involved millions of dates and facts. I love the history that resides in old places, boarded up buildings, falling apart rooms, nooks and crannies that speak of days gone by. LOVE love it. I love the kind of history that shows itself in old,...

http://www.simplyroseblog.com');” rel=’external ‘ class=’url’>Rose Dykstra - You’ve got a goldmine of opportunities here! Good find!
Sonya - Awesome photos! I love going out to Tranquille too. It’s so mesmerizing to me.
Brianna Munro - Was fun going out there with you! I love meetin new photog friends!
Lisa - Thanks! :) I would love the opportunity to get inside before they bulldoze it… so sad.
Brian - Wonderful – something so sad and beautiful about those derelict buildings…
http://vidacarson.com');” rel=’external ‘ class=’url’>Vida - Oh! I love the light in these :D
http://www.goodmansphoto.com');” rel=’external ‘ class=’url’>seth - Cool place and nice photos!
http://www.kylehepp.com');” rel=’external ‘ class=’url’>Kyle - Wow, wow, wow, you have got to do a shoot here like yesterday!!!
http://chrislinphoto.com');” rel=’external ‘ class=’url’>Chris Lin - Okay, I’m going to point out that the page number on this is 1337. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leet for more.
Good luck sneaking in! Don’t get caught/hurt.
Brianna Munro - I know!! I hope they open it to the photographer public in the spring time like you were saying.
Lisa - I don’t think I’ll be sneaking in. There are caretakers, and silent alarms all over. I’m hoping to find a legit way to shoot in there. There is SO MUCH history, and I want to document it so badly before the place is torn down…
http://www.mjstanton.com');” rel=’external ‘ class=’url’>Matt Stanton - There is a fascination with derelict run down buildings, strong work.
http://www.alenabdula.com');” rel=’external ‘ class=’url’>Alen Abdula - Great locations for TTD sessions or Engagement shoots!
http://jamiemswanson.com');” rel=’external ‘ class=’url’>Jamie M Swanson - Looks like an awesome place to shoot! Fun!
http://danieldunlapphoto.com');” rel=’external ‘ class=’url’>Daniel Dunlap - Great images! I absolutely love the fifth image!
http://www.ilovewednesdays.com');” rel=’external ‘ class=’url’>Milena Dekic - Wow, it looks awesome from the outside, but I can’t even imagine what’s hidden inside there. Hope you get a chance to go have a look.
http://leodrukerphoto.com');” rel=’external ‘ class=’url’>Leo Druker - I think you’ve captured the “personality” of these buildings perfectly – everything here – the light – the composition – is just right. Great job!
http://www.savvystudios.com.au');” rel=’external ‘ class=’url’>Alicia Kennison - Love the photos and your treatment is beautiful.
http://www.cliffmarck.com');” rel=’external ‘ class=’url’>Cliff - Great shots. I really like the cross processing you ran the set through.
http://blog.redwallphotography.com');” rel=’external ‘ class=’url’>Tasha Schalk - Oh wow. It’d be really interesting to see what it’s like on the inside. I hate when old places like that are torn down.
http://www.marianamaya.com');” rel=’external ‘ class=’url’>Mariana Maya Photography - I love how nicely you captures these weathered homes. Too bad it will get knocked down.
Brianna Munro - yeah they have to have some kind of system up regarding security. My friend has met the owner (from trespassing and him yelling at them) and she told me that he has some kind of “gun” that makes a noise of a cop car to scare people off the property thinking cops have arrived. lol. We should really try to track down the owner and get permission though!! I’d love to go in the buildings without getting in trouble
sandra - Just take a chance and walk in. I did, and nothing happened, I got some great pics. I didnt go in the buildings though, as that is where the alarms are, and also the floors may not be too safe.
I dont think the security is as tight as it once was.
Marnie - I have lived in Kamloops since October 2007 and have recently gotten into photography. I would love to have a tour of this place. I have only driven by but never stopped as I had heard that it was heavily monitored by motion sensors. I think they should definitely open it up to photographers for photo opportunities before a big piece of Kamloops history is destroyed. Maybe someone should write a letter to the editor in the newspaper.
Janell - Your photos of Padova are AMAZING. I am completely in love with this place and am doing everything in my power to try and photograph it before it is gone! Would love to talk to you if you could send me a email that would be fantastic!
http://www.facebook.com');” rel=’external ‘ class=’url’>Natasha - This place is the most amazing place I’ve shot at so far, I was there in the spring of 2010. I decided to take a little more risks, I entered the place and some of the buildings. It is heart breaking to think that by now most of it is probably already gone. As Lisa said there are caretakers & dogs that live on the property but there are no silent alarms, I managed to take pictures in 4 different buildings (the hospital, the nurse triplex, the grade school and the building known as “Main”) and spent more then 6 hours doing it without getting caught. It was a wonderful experience and I am very happy to have had the chance to do it.
